Sweet orange began in China and is now grown worldwide, including California, Florida, and the Mediterranean. Trees stand about 8–20 ft high and 7–20 ft wide, with bright fruit, sweet pulp, and membranes that are not bitter. The oil is cold-pressed from the peel.
Dried peel has a long record in Chinese practice for coughs and colds. The essential oil is the familiar sweet citrus note used to lift a blend or a room.
